Having Heart

September 25, 2013  •  1 Comment

My father passed away at the age of 58 on June 4, 2011 from a heart attack. His father had passed away at about the same age as my father, also of a heart attack. Recently turning 31, it is hard not to feel like my life could be half over. However, I aim to change that and break the pattern.

Unfortunately, I am out of shape. It wasn't until recently that I realized how out of shape I had gotten. For a while now, I have been carrying a spare tire around. I have been wanting to get rid of it, but I have not had as much motivation as I would like. I am realizing that I need to change, I need to be healthier. I think my new attitude is partly due to my recent birthday, but I also had my annual physical where my doctor told me that I need to exercise more. When she told me that, I knew but still hadn't accepted it. Then, I received my annual blood work results in the mail where she wrote that I need more exercise. Finally, just this past weekend, someone I was acquainted with passed away suddenly from a heart attack. I'm not sure how old he was, but he couldn't have been much older than me.

In honor of my father, I am going to be selling prints of some of my photos. Currently, they are ones that I have taken that I enjoy, but are not really connected to health or fitness. As I travel along to better health, I aim to add photos that are more fitting. These could be ones I have taken while riding a bike or maybe at some health related marathons/walks. Hopefully, I will be able to create some photos specifically for this purpose.

From these photos sold, I will give at least 50% of the profit to the American Heart Association. The other 50% will go towards financing my own health needs (mainly biking equipment and exercise clothes). I will not profit from this, so any money I have left over will go to the AHA. If I don't need the money, I will give it to someone who can put it to good use.

So please help by purchasing a photo from this gallery and come back often to see what's new!
